Hi, played a handful of tunes at Ray's fund-raiser event yesterday. Rain pushed the show from the garden to Good-bye Blue Monday, a quirky little spot in Bushwick known for cheap beer and hip live music.
Indeed, the Village Voice picked it last year as the 'best place to see emerging indie musicians before they start believing their own hype.' Of course, that begs whether or not Kind Monitor believes its own hype or not.
At any rate, we were happy to help Ray's local garden improve the quality of its soil through money earned at the live show. And Pablo Masis, a great trumpeter, joined us for the set.
High-light of the day as a listener: Lady Rizo's bizarre cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" in which she imagined herself to have escaped a mental ward as she sang the audience her song. Highly entertaining.
Yours,
KM
PS To celebrate the rainy day feeling yesterday, I posted the world's slowest cover of Piano Man for your melancholic enjoyment.
